My wife is from Brighton – born and raised – so for her moving to Brighton is coming home. She has family and friends alike in Brighton already.
For me I am a newcomer, I don’t know the town other than weekends spent there visiting with my wife’s family.
So I am determined to make a little bit of Brighton my own. I’ve joined a local sailing club and discovered to my delight that people I sailed with years ago are also members there.
I’ve only been once or twice but it’s made such a huge difference to how I feel about the move – now there’s not just the Brighton that my wife, her family and her friends have shown me – I have the beginnings of my very own Brighton existence – the start of feeling a part of the place.
