Brighton: Sunny Days and Open Spaces

by Graham on April 19, 2010

We were down in Brighton at the weekend, and as the day was so nice we decided to drive over to Shoreham beach to bring my daughter for a walk.

Such a different life to be able to drive for not much more than 10/15 minutes and be on a long pebble beach, pretty much all to yourselves, watching the waves come crashing in.

Coming from south London where ten or fifteen minutes in the car gets you, well, more south London, I feel like I’m Andy Dupré walking down that beach in Mexico at the end of The Shawshank Redemption – such freedom!

I’m really looking forward to our move now – we have a place, I have an arrangement to work from home two days a week, everything is basically in place to make this work.

I can’t fully appreciate at this stage how it is going to change our lives – we’re going from a two bed apartment with no garden to a three bed house with outside space at the front and the back, and the sea, and the countryside, less than ten minutes’ drive away.

Bring it on!
