We’ve decided to have a “fabulous” holiday in the next month or two with our 18 month old daughter. So we’re probably looking for somewhere that’s “family friendly”. The problem is, we’re not what I would call a “family” yet. That is – we are two adults who would like to be in a cool boutique hotel or resort, who happen to have an 18 month old daughter who we want to enjoy our holiday with too.
We’re not a “family” in the sense that we don’t have three 5-10 year olds who will dictate the programme of events and require constant entertainment. What we do on the holiday will mainly be dictated by the adults, but we want our daughter to have fun too. So we’re looking for baby friendly holidays – or toddler friendly holidays to be more precise.
So how do we find a holiday suitable for adults and toddlers? The obvious choice is to go self catering but there must be something closer to our old pre-parenthood holiday of touring around and staying in nice boutique hotels – or a super cool resort/complex in a location where there is also some culture and activity nearby.
Some hotels seem to be offering family friendly suites now – room for Mum and Dad but also a connected room for the little ones and somewhere to prepare food. Unfortunately I could count the ones I have come across on one hand, and they’ve either been located somewhere I don’t want to go or been extremely pricey.
The search continues – and anyone with ideas please drop me a line and we can share them with everyone here on New Dad.
