My Daugher At 18 Months

by Graham on June 30, 2010

My daughter is 18 months old.  She constantly amazes us with her rate of development.  Here are some of her current tricks:

iPhone – she’s been using my iPhone as a toy since about 11 months, but she can now unlock the phone, launch specific apps she wants to play with and even launch the photo gallery and play particular videos of herself that she likes.

Backing up – if we ask our daughter if she wants to sit on our lap and read a book, she now turns around and starts backing up – to which I love to make a beeping sound like you’d hear from a truck in reverse.  Very cute!

Bedtime – for several months now, my daughter has taken charge of bedtime.  Some nights she will let us read a book and sing her a song while rocking her on my/my wife’s shoulder.  But as soon as she decides she is ready for bed she simply lifts her head up and points into the cot.  We put her down, she rolls over onto her front and says “bye”!

The “injustice” cry – if my daughter doesn’t get what she wants, be it iPhone, some of our dinner or otherwise she gets into what we call the “injustice” cry.  It’s a wailing cry of high drama, as if some great travesty or injury has befallen her.

I’m sure the next year will bring lots more developmental milestones – if you have some fun ones with your toddlers please share them here via the comments page!
